A new “Gameplay Launch Trailer” has debuted in Diablo 4, and it shows all classes kicking some demons’ butts to a vaguely applicable Billie Eilish track.
I’m putting “Gameplay Launch Trailer” in quotes because Diablo 4’s Early Access release is still two weeks away on June 2nd, just so we don’t disappoint anyone here.
Either way, the new gameplay is the tutorial launch hype, featuring a brief cinematic of Diablo 4’s main antagonist, Lilith, appearing to enter Sanctuary’s gates before the beat drops and things kick into action. The music was a little confusing to me, not because there’s something wrong with Billie Eilish – I’m too out of touch with contemporary artists to judge that – but because I’m so used to hearing the sparsely arranged atmospheric tracks in Diablo. so radio friendly songs from today’s hitmakers. But I digress.
The trailer shows Barbarian Sparta throwing a thug off a ledge, a rogue hurling arrows at hordes of demons, a druid—you guessed it—turning into a bear to wreak havoc on his enemies, and every other class revealed so far. doing their job in the name of killing demons. We also get to see some brief glimpses of boss fights, including the Blood Bishop and Treasure Beast, and while we get a tiny glimpse of what could be the set-up for the Lilith fight, we don’t actually see the Succubus Queen throwing her hands.
If you can’t wait until June 2nd, here are a few games like diablo to hold you until then.
