Today’s quardle (game 454) – Answers
The answers to today’s Quordle game #454 are…
To be honest, I found today’s quodle to be pretty simple. Yesterday’s game gave me endless problems, but today the answers suggested themselves, without drama and great mental effort.
It was alleviated by the fact that none of the four solutions contained repeated letters, but all four words had many letters in common. For example, F started with two answers, Y ended with two, three contained L, three E, and three S. When you had those five letters, you were far from the Quordle solution.
At least that’s how my game turned out. L, E, S and Y are among my three initial words (STARE, napkin and PUNCH) and I played F quite early to decide FALSE. It was, of course, much easier than yesterday.

Quordle FAQ: Everything you need to know
What is a Quardle?
While Wordle challenges you to guess a new five-letter word every day, Quordle challenges you to solve four puzzles. And instead of doing them one by one, you do them all at the same time. You get nine guesses instead of six for Wordle, but other than that the rules are very similar.
It is played online through Quordle Website (will open in a new tab) and you can also get to it via Merriam Webster website (will open in a new tab)after Dictionary bought Quordle last year.
As with Wordle, the answers are the same for all players every day, which means you’re competing against the rest of the world. And just like with Wordle, the puzzle resets at midnight, so you’ll have a new challenge each day.
The website also has a practice mode that I would definitely recommend using before you jump into the game! – and there are daily statistics, including the number of lanes. You also get Quordle Achievements, special badges for winning a game within a certain number of moves, playing multiple times, or guessing particularly difficult words.
Oh, and it’s difficult. Really difficult.
What are Quordle Rules?
Quordle rules are almost identical to Wordle rules.
1. The letters that are in the answer and in the right place turn green.
2. Letters that are in the answer but in the wrong place turn yellow.
3. Letters that are not in the answer turn gray …
4. … BUT the word you guess appears in all the quadrants of the puzzle at the same time, so the A can turn green in one square, yellow in another, and gray in the last two.
5. The answers are never multiple.
6. Letters may appear more than once. So if your guess includes two letters of the same letter, they might turn yellow, both green, or one might be yellow and the other green.
7. Each guess must be a valid word in the Quordle dictionary. For example, you can’t guess ABCDE.
8th. You don’t have to include the correct letters in subsequent guesses, and there is no Wordle hard mode equivalent.
9. You have nine guesses to find Quordle answers.
10 You must complete the daily quodle before midnight in your time zone.
What is a good Quordle strategy?
Quordle needs to be approached differently than Wordle. With four puzzles to solve in nine guesses, you can’t blindly throw letters at it and expect to win – you’ll have a much better chance if you think strategically.
The same, of course, in Wordle, but even more important in Quordle.
There are two key things to remember.
1. Use a few opening words
First, you won’t need one initial word, but almost certainly two or three initial words.
The first one should probably be one of the best wordle starters because the same things that make them work well apply here as well. But after that, you must choose another word, or perhaps two, that use many more of the most common consonants and include the remaining vowels.
For example, right now I’m using STARE > DAILY > PUNCH. Between them, these three words use 15 of the 26 letters of the alphabet, including all five vowels, Y, and the nine most common consonants (S, T, R, D, L, P, N, C, and H). There are many other options – you might want to get M, B, F or G instead of H maybe – but something like this should help.
If all goes well, this will give you a good idea of what one or sometimes two answers might be. If not, good luck!
2. Narrow down the questions
Secondly, if you come across a word that can be answered with one of several options, such as -ATCH, where it can be MATCH, BATCH, LATCH, CATCH, WATCH, HATCH or PATCH – you will definitely want to guess the word that would narrowed down those options.
Instead, in Wordle, you can try several of them in a row and hope one of them turns out to be correct, as long as you have enough guesses left. It’s risky, but sometimes it works. Also, it’s the only option in hard mode. But in Quordle, this will almost certainly turn into a failure – you simply do not have enough guesses.
In the scenario above, CLAMP would be a great guess as it can path four of the seven words in one go.
