What are we all playing this holiday weekend?

Published

on

We have another long weekend due to the May holiday on Monday, so we won’t be back until Tuesday. I believe, dear reader, that on the first of the month you will pinch and beat yourself on my behalf. And even if you think “Yes, it’s coming back,” all you have to do is pinch and hit in retaliation. But what are you playing this weekend? That’s what we’re clicking on!

I’ve just been to a wedding as you’re reading this, so I can only assume that I’ll be in a completely apocalyptic mood about things in general for most of this weekend and leave myself in no position to approach games specifically. Maybe something quiet like a puzzle game. May be.

Since Betrayal At Club Low became our RPS Game Club game this month, I’ve replayed the entire Off-Peak series. Somehow I ended up out of order and only half of The Norwood Suite remained. I really, really like this series.

Ed
I’m about sporadically this weekend. One day I’ll be sweating and eating bananas (it’s been a long time) and then the final session of The Last Of Us 2 (I thought the game was over, it was No made). Otherwise, I’m hoping to spend some time playing a game that I can’t talk about, so yeah, I hope it gets the blood pumping.

After a long week and a bit of playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to create our big guide collectible table, I just want to sleep. Nobody talks to me about video games, lightsabers and stuff like that. I want to sleep, eat something very sweet and play Magic: The Gathering with my friends. I’ve put together a complete playset of the new Planeswalker Wrenn and Realmbreaker, and I love figuring out how to turn it into a green deck. I also want to start planning my Thalia & The Gitrog Monster Commander deck!

Don’t tell Hayden about this.

James
Decided, back to Dota 2 to try out the New Frontiers update. I don’t understand how I, a person with limited free time and a recent diagnosis of high blood pressure, could regret this.

Catherine
Even though I’ve owned it on Switch for the better part of a year, I’m finally going to sit down and play Live A Live this weekend when it comes out on PC. I also want to dig into Mr. Sun’s hatbox, which I really enjoyed demoing during the last Steam Next Fest, and I’m interested to see how she maintains her comedic adventure in full.

Another long weekend is coming up, and with it the promise of many hours of free time that I can dedicate to some of the games I continue to neglect. I’m determined to finish Dredge before moving on to Cassette Beasts, but Against The Storm grabs my attention more than I’m willing to admit. I also bought the Advance Wars remasters for the Switch, so I should probably give them a try at some point too.

Even though I’ve already completed the main story of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, I’m obligated to try the game 100% to get all those sweet screenshots of collectibles for our guides. After that… I’ll probably play it again, this time on Grandmaster difficulty, so I can really appreciate how incredibly unfair this battle with Spawn Of Oggdo is.

Rachel
I’m going on vacation (oops!) since Saturday morning, so I won’t have time to play many games, although if I What around I would definitely play Mail Time and Cassette Beasts.

Rebecca
May this year officially consists of public holidays, so I figure there’s no need to rush to start something new and I can relax by focusing on the games I’m finishing. Danganronpa 2’s mode and my 100% Life Is Strange: True Colors replay are going well, and I’m about halfway through doing everything that can be done in Ghostwire: Tokyo, which feels like an achievement in itself.

And you, dear reader, what are you playing this weekend?

This week the anime boys are here to pay their respects to Waypoint, talk about Jedi: Survivor, Honkai: Star Rail, and round it off with some anime corner. To hell with capitalism, go home.

Inspired by the ‘looming climate crisis’, hand-drawn indie game End of Lines releases next month

Published

on

Hand-drawn indie game End of Lines will be available for PC and Switch on May 25th.

The interactive graphic novel comes from the award-winning Nova-box for Across the Grooves and Seers Isle and is inspired by the “looming climate crisis”.

You can check out “a beautifully hand-drawn heartbreaking vision of a future where the world has failed to respond to our rapidly changing climate” in the new teaser trailer below:

End of Lines Trailer

In keeping with the studio’s previous games, in End of Lines “every choice counts” as you manage your party’s supplies and morale “in a ruthless environment where death can meet at any time.” It follows a group of survivors who “roam the devastated countryside of Southern Europe, desperately looking for a safe place to settle and a semblance of normalcy, having lost everything but each other.”

The story offers a diverse cast of characters, a captivating soundtrack, and a “beautifully illustrated storybook” where each playthrough offers a “novel-sized adventure” and a selection from the hundreds of hand-drawn illustrations created for the game.
